Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) [link] was founded by Iraq war veterans in July 2004 at the annual convention of Veterans for Peace (VFP) in Boston to give a voice to the large number of active duty service people and veterans who are against this war, but are under various pressures to remain silent.

From its inception, IVAW has called for:

- Immediate withdrawal of all occupying forces in Iraq;
- Reparations for the human and structural damages Iraq has suffered, and stopping the corporate pillaging of Iraq so that their people can control their own lives and future and
- Full benefits, adequate healthcare (including mental health), and other supports for returning servicemen and women.

This picture really resonates with me. My grandfather fought in the Marines during the Korean War. Although he made it home, he was forever haunted by what he had experienced; in fact, he died an alcoholic. War doesn't just destroy bodies, it also destroys minds and souls. This is always tragic when the war is justified; it is even more so when the war is predicated upon pure bunk. When I think about the thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians who have been maimed and killed, my blood boils. Anyway, thanks for posting this very poignant drawing.

the real war should be against american pop culture, which is the most degenerate disrespectful form of entertainment in the world, if that gets shut down and changed to respect family values, respect life and good people, you'll see things change almost immediately. it is one of the main reasons why soldiers are under so much stress when they come back home to their own country. conflict of cultures, soldier culture= one that respects values, loyalty, patriotism, and honor. vs american pop culture= one that respects criminal behavior, and tells you to be cruel, psychotic, and kill in order to be successful.

damn you worthless piece of crap, how dare you put in the picture of this tombstone, "cannon fodder", don't you know that soldier has a mother, father, sister, and brother. they are human beings, and very powerful human beings at that to have the guts and training, and tenacity to fight in war.

bullshit conservative and liberal data aside, here's a real fact that should upset you and concern you the most, do you know that out of all the countries in the world, no other countries citizens disrespect their armed forces as much as the U.S.A. does?

I know this living in 4 different continents and studying different cultures over the years.
if that doesn't alarm you, it should.

why is america the most unpatriotic country in the world?

Calm down, soldiers are people yes but in war they are "units" pitted against "other units". Those who are treated as cannon fodder are cannon fodder and this piece reflects the reality of america's decisions. Cruel as they may be, just don't join the army. If you have a problem with people dying, get real and move on.
