Really get real. Obama is no savior. He is no Malcolm X. He is a precedent. His election only shows that any minority can be the leader of this or any country. His actions show that his interest is to serve the status quo. Obama reminds me of Derek Farmer and we need a Malcolm X.

I understand your position brother, believe me. But I suppose that whereas you stand aside Latuff's vantage point, I'm side by side with Ben Heine. Different strokes, different folks... same long-term goals. My qualm with Latuff's recurring anti-Obama pieces are that they appear blanketed and without basis, given Obama's short time in office.

I suppose you and I view the glass differently. I see Obama as a major improvement over the Bush years, and I certainly breath easier knowing McCain isn't in office (imagine the judges he'd elect). Obama's win itself -- aside from any policies or ideologies -- is a victory for mankind as we aim to look beyond race. It's a true leap towards social progression.

Obama is no savior. I resent the various Obama-haters who use this as their #1 insult to hurl at supporters of the man. No one believes him to be supernatural. Certainly not me, for I am not a believer of any so-called Holy Book. Nor is he Malcolm X. But what'd you expect? ...

Time will tell all... I say we wait it out a bit.

The revolution won't come to us in an instance. It's an arduous process that can not come overnight.

I agree. But I do like latuff's comics directly connected to an action. You're right, things like these are thin at fundament.
However, we'll see if Obama can proove him wrong. I'm from Germany, so maybe I'm not completely in the picture, but I do my best on getting in. I'm a bit distrustful. Obama's a great speaker, that makes him very dangerous.

I'm living in Germany (the internet be blessed) and I've heard something about the Australian blacklist of censored websites (because they contain child pornography they claim) leaked. According to sources there was the URL of a dentist on the list, is that right? I've read (part of) the gouvernment now wants to take down wikileaks.com.
Just recently some policmen here in Germany executed a house search at the house of the owner of the domain "www.wikileaks.de" and some mirror servers for the site. They thought they could take down the webspace... but of course that was impossible.
So instead they searched the house roughly for "some other things" (but they didn't state what), it looked more like they tried to scare him.

I've also heard they had a poll in Australia whether or not filesharing should be prohibited by law and 90% said "no, it shouldn't". Do you have any data on that?

Sorry for the massive text, but it's a chance I cannot miss. ^^'

hmm I'm not too sure really but I think the whole political correctness bullshit the government is trying to push on people now is actually communism in disguise and I think eventually for even feeling slightly different to the majority they will be able to shoot you under political correctness laws

That's hard o_O
In Germany we're approaching old Eastern Fascism standarts with heavy surveillance, newly introduced official censorship and nationalization of several banks (actually Hitler did the same thing, although the reason behind it may be different). I think that's pretty much the old Eastern Germany system which was under Sovjet control and influence for a long time.
Of course, just like you said, it's all done with political correctness. They say "oh we just want to censor child pornography!" (like that would help one goddamn child or do anything to the criminals) but behind the back of the people industry also has in mind one or two or three other cases in which the website should be censored. "Terrorism" is always a very good reason too (and we all know you cannot kill terrorism, so there'll be always this good reason. Clever thinking)

There are voices saying Western democracies are falling apart really fast and that Eastern nations like China (it's actually making plus throughout the economy crisis) will be "the new West"; in return our current West will become "the new East". I don't know whether that's a bit too much, but there are definitly signs showing.

Latuff is just mercyless, TheIronLion - not more, not less.

Well, Obama is a other Person like Bush was, but that doesn't make the United States a "good" Country yet.

He has much to repair. Only because America has now a Black President, the Eight Years of Crimes wished and made by white, old Men are not forgotten.

He has "much" to repair, don't you think? This Picture shows the great Non-Trust Latuff has in Obama right now ;)

Öööhm... well...?

See, if your Nickname would not sound (expose?) that you are most likely a Islam-hating Idiot, than i would really be interested why you are writing this over him.

You can't stand Latuff? Is he to aggressive and direct a Cartoonist for you? Or do you just don't like him because he is pro-Palestine?

Don't be suprised, but it is YOU who appaers like a Fag. Most likely you know nothing about him and are only trying to insult him...

Keep your hate for yourself, you Dump >_>

Why are you "HERE"? It is not enough for you to flame and "spam hate" on Sites like YouTube? -.-

Who knows if Palestine exist or not. But i wonder if you maybe get wild and went Berserk or something like that if "EVER" something like a Palestine State would get formed.

Official, i mean.

It's the job of the political cartoonist to illustrate the negative side to world leaders' policies and to expose the negative or possibly negative side of their intentions.

You people who take it personally and make personal attacks on the Artist, just don't get it.

I don't think i'm personal attacking Latuff2...

The Opposite. My Comment is neutral but i support Free Thoughts like his, demonstrated in such Pictures.

The World can not have enough Critics, or when not the World, at last the Human Society.

People like Latuff are important, even when a great Bunch of People is to stupid to understand his Motive and telling stupid Stuff like he would be radical.

Well, at the same Point, there is a limit of Non-Trust i cannot cross over, either.

Only because Latuff2 is critizing Obama, in can not let my Hope in this Man fall completely ;)
If Obama is unworthy of being the American President (who wants to "change" everything), i must see this first. ;)

That comment wasn't really directed at you or anyone in particular, i've seen several personal attacks on Latuff on many of his cartoons. Lets face it, he's not comparing Obama to a monkey he's raising legitimate political questions about Obama's political moves.

And don't get me wrong, i have hope for what Obama may be able to achieve in the years to come, and i think the man probably has good intentions, but as you said, the world cannot have enough critics more importantly, world leaders cannot be questioned and criticized enough.

One of the problems with Bush was that 9/11 happened at the beginning of his presidency, so Americans were on edge and became patriotic to a fault where they supported and allowed their president to do horrific things in their name, 9/11 vilified muslims and arabs and put many Americans on a "someone has to pay" warpath this allowed Bush and his administration to go to war based on very shaky intelligence and out right lies. He wasn't questioned enough and look where we are.

I think people are pinning their hopes WAY too high on Obama (one man in a large system, even if he is a good man with good intentions, there is only so much a man like him can do to change a system this big) and it's tough to swallow the fact that his drastic change is as yet, not so drastic. We're still waiting.

Latuffs art, more than anything, for me, just brings reality back home, brings Obama down off that pedastool (sp?) and gets our heads out of the clouds. We're saying "Horray he's bringing troops out of Iraq!" and Latuff is saying "But hold on, look at it this way..." devils advocate if you will and i for one, think that is awesome and vitally important.

Everythings right, so far...

It's a Insolence already that this Shithead Bush foray the Iraq and someone other has to draw back the Troops for him oO
He created very convincing the Image that most Texan Guys are stupid Rambo-Cowboys who can do nothing other but to shoot on People.

Well, one Thing America has better than Germany. In America, one Person can only be elected one Time again and only have two Curatorship's at Maxmimum.

If Bush would be in Germany, People could elect him ever and ever again.
And to the "someone has to pay" Warpath...

I myself said many Times that after 2001 and 9/11 a dangerous Neofashism and Rassism awakened in America - cause "many" People there are dump and subconsciously rassistic.

9/11 was only a Excuse to turn the Neofashism against Muslim and Arabic People. It's so logical if some see's the Crimes like Guantanamo-Bay, created after 9/11.

I hope that the same Thirst for Revenge will be gone when other Lands (Iran only for an Example) have massive Power and Atombombs.
What would America become when everyone could get Revenge "they" pissed off in the last thirty to fourty Years?

Okay, that's only facile Talking, but somewhere it is true, right? I could image that a Bunch of Millions of People would like to skin a GI' Soldier alive or to kill every American they can get - "now" after the Treatment of the Afghanistan and Iraq People during AND after the official Wartimes. oO

Short: You are right. Obama is only one Man and he has a Mountain of Shit (Sry *Cough*) before him, waiting for someone to repair it with all his Effort.

I hope in Eight Years at Maximum, if Obama gets elected again, America will no longer have the Image like Communistic States like China and Russia, who are official tortering und murdering People, when they cannot accept their Points.

Whew ^^ this Comment is getting Way to long xD

I agree with you 100%. But I've noticed a trend in Latuff's releases that are becoming a bit dry and repetitive... It's my right as a critic -- I critique music as my side-job, but hey, cartoons are an artform too -- to comment on such issues.

"Personal attacks" is a bit harsh though...

Never that.

Good reply. I agree it is your right as a critic and appreciate that, it goes both ways and that's one of the beauties of political art, the controversy and debate it often ignites.

Perhaps the repetitiveness is a statement itself... little change to draw about.

Thank you. It just seems to me like many of these pieces could be with George Bush and Latuff has simply changed the face and replaced it with Barack's.

IMO, these two leaders are not equal.

They are not equal i agree but Latuff is discussing what Obama is (and isn't) doing and how that really affects the situation rather than what Bush has done (about which he did plenty of work during the Bush years)

While Obama is by far the better president, they are a part of the same system and his choices still are far from revolutionary. We'll see what change time can bring.

I agree. I am confident that had he not had to deal with the economic crisis, he'd be taking stronger steps in regards to Iraq and Afghanistan.

I hope the best for him and his choices...
