He does have a point. There are many people in southern ireland and MANY MANY people in northen ireland who do not want unification.

I'm Scottish/irish, coming from a Catholic/Protestant family that have suffered at the hands of sectarianism. From both sides.

Northen island is mostly protestant, Southern is mostly Catholic.

Scotland is mostly protestant, and the catholic population mostly originate from southern ireland.

Lots of people do not want unification from BOTH sides because of the issues with religion, and because many northern people WANT to be British.

There are extremists wherever you go, but the problem with the IRA is that they ahve bombed innocent people, the only reason why they often send warnings is because they get a lot of funding from the US (many US people support ireland due to heritage)

the IRA have killed innocent people who have nothing to do with the fight, that can never be justified by politics.

Both sides are as bad as each other, one of the reasons my family don't really want to move back to scotland is because of the sectarianism.

I will say one thing though, I am happy being British, and I wouldn't give it up for the world.

If I'm honest, the deviantart makes me feel a little uncomfortable, the countries I'm from have suffered, but no where near as much as Palestine.

The Irish no longer want Northern Ireland, while the Northern Irish had been against being partitioned away from their Scottish bretheren.
