I also distrust Putin because he seems to be pulling all the string's in Russia's government. He was president for two terms, appointing one of his colleagues Dmitri Medvedev for the position while Putin "demoted" himself to Prime Minister. But in most European countries, the Prime Minister is more powerful than the president (i.e. in Germany and Italy). So Putin set himself up for more.
Putin is extremely manipluative. Manipulative... that's it. I don't know too much on the matter, but I know some things. Your point is very valid. As stated several times above, Medvedev is simply a puppet. But to be fair to some innocent little Russians here, it's not necasarily (mispell) the people as it is the government. It's just like the U.S. and the war in Afghanistan. We pretty much sit by and watch. But I'm just glad this stupid war with Georgia is over. At least, I think it is. Is it? ... goes to show how uneducated I am about the war... *strives to learn more*
hmm, America wants oil but doesnt want it from russia, one, they'll be dependant on Russia, which sees the US as untrustworthy and manipulative, and 2, the profit for russia will make them even stronger, not a good combination for USA. so they try their best in different countries. Russia, is preventing that.

John McCain's words rang true when he said "I looked into the man's eyes and I saw a K, a G, and a B" about Putin. I support Obama, but still-
I feel really bad for the Russian people that just want freedom. Same with Ukraine and Belarus.
Some of the journalists in those countries over there are akin to heroes for me, risking their lives and their freedom to bring truth to the public.
